Name
This rice variety gets its name from its sticky nature. In Tamil pisin means "Pasai" which is used for sticking different material.
Characteristics of the grain
The colour of the rice is red and it has bold coarse grains.
Therapeutic Properties
On attaining puberty, young girls are encouraged to add this rice as part of their menu. This helps to get rid of hip pain associated with menstruation. It is also recommended for pregnant women to help them go through a pain-free delivery.
