Black horse gram has the highest Calcium content among pulses. It is also rich in iron and protein. Can be consumed by vegetarians regularly to keep protein intake healthy. It is recommended in Ayurveda for weight loss. There is a saying in Tamil "Kozhuttavanukku Kollu" which means that it is good to have horse gram for obese people.
